The United Arab Emirates is in the middle of a very important year for the country: 2021 is in fact ‘The Year 50’ there, as the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of its creation and next October 1 Expo 2020 Dubai kicks off, the first World Expo to be held in the MEASA (Middle East, Africa and South Asia) area. The event will run up to March 31 next year after it was postponed from 2020 due to the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and organizers estimate that 25 million visitors will arrive in Dubai during the 6-month run.

What better time than the present, then, to debut Ain Dubai? The world’s tallest observation wheel will open to the public on 21 October.

Located on Bluewaters Island, the giant observation wheel stands at a staggering height of 250m with each leg standing 126m high – long enough to fit 15 London buses.

Mohamed Sharaf, COO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, the attraction’s developers, said: “Dubai continues to be a leader in the travel and tourism sector, with a reputation for delivering pioneering projects and landmarks. Ain Dubai is a testament to one of the many innovative initiatives developed by Dubai to further enhance its competitiveness as a key international tourism destination in continuation of Dubai’s drive to achieve new global heights.”

The giant observation wheel offers unrivalled 360-degree views of Dubai’s skyline and iconic landmarks such as The Palm, Dubai Marina and Burj Al Arab Jumeirah in a relaxing yet mesmerizing 38-minute journey. With 48 air-conditioned cabins, 1,750 visitors can take in the experience in one revolution.
