Following the opening of Majaland Kownaty in western Poland in 2018 and Majaland Warsaw near the Polish capital in 2022, a few weeks ago a third Majaland theme park was inaugurated near the tourist city of Gdańsk in the north of the country.

The perfect place for families with young children, Majaland Gdańsk spans 20,000sqm and features 25 attractions, the majority of which are indoors. As the name suggests, this park format is themed around Maya the Bee as well as other Studio 100 beloved characters like Vicky the Viking. However in Gdańsk, for the first time ever these characters are joined by the Smurfs and iconic characters from Nickelodeon cartoons, including Spongebob Squarepants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, thanks to the recent long-term licensing agreements signed by Majaland parks’ investor and operator Momentum Leisure with Peyo Company and Paramount Location-Based Entertainment & Experiences. “Joining the company in April felt like stepping into a fast-moving roller coaster,” said Wouter Dekkers, new CEO at Momentum Leisure. “I am excited and honored to guide Majaland’s next phase in Poland. Our goal is to enhance our parks with compelling family entertainment and attractions. It is incredibly gratifying that Majaland parks will showcase the beloved Nickelodeon brand and its characters to our guests.”

Since its founding in 2008, Momentum Leisure has focused on Poland as its driver for growth. The opening of Majaland Gdańsk (an over 32 million euros investment) fits perfectly in the company’s strategy of becoming a major player in the leisure industry of Central and Eastern Europe.

The next step in Momentum Leisure development plans is a fourth park – a theme and water park, to be precise – to be built in Gliwice (southern Poland), adjacent to Europa Centralna in co-operation with Mitiska-REM, the owner of the retail center.

For the new project, Momentum bought a 6.7ha land plot last Spring from Mitiska-REM. The park is expected to open in 2026. “This collaboration with Mitiska-REM is a real win-win because it integrates shopping and leisure in a perfect location. We are looking forward to developing this site – and perhaps other locations in the future – together”.
